Kevin & The Diet Doc
A native of the greater Cincinnati area, I am a licensed and certified family nurse practitioner in Northern Kentucky, and educating and coaching clients to not have to worry about dieting again is my specialty. My goal is to make you leaner, more energetic, healthier, and most importantly – happier. Shortly after earning my Bachelor's in Nursing from the University of Evansville in 2009, I moved back to Cincinnati and began my nursing career on a psychological medical-surgical unit. After obtaining years of experience, I began my studies at Northern Kentucky University and attained my Master's in Nursing with a focus in primary care. Following licensure and certification boards, I worked as a nurse practitioner in a family practice that specialized in managing endocrine conditions, such as hypothyroidism, diabetes, and PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Nursing Practice at Frontier Nursing University to further my clinical and leadership roles in primary care. In addition to my medical background, I am a certified personal training through the NASM and health coach in training with the American Council on Exercise.
Despite my advanced medical qualifications on nutrition and obesity, it’s because I can relate to the effects of feeling unhealthy that I knew I wanted to help clients develop healthier lifestyles. In order for clients to trust me and take me seriously, I had to practice the same habits I was teaching others.
Our medical system is broken because clinicians are pushed to see more and more patients per day, which leads to over-prescribed medications and higher healthcare costs. I personally believe we as clinicians should be encouraging lifestyle as medicine rather than reaching for the prescription pad. The current healthcare system's strategy of treating chronic diseases with pill after pill, as opposed to solving the underlying issue, demonstrates how preventative medicine is not what it used to be. Many chronic ailments can be prevented through education of behavioral changes including healthy nutrition, daily exercise, and handling of stress appropriately. It’s simple lifestyle management. However, far too often individuals crash diet due to ill-conceived information, absence of support, and/or lack of stress management skills. This creates a perpetual cycle of helplessness, frustration, and an unhealthy relationship with food.
Through the utilization of compassion, support, and education, clients will express a more positive, empowered mindset and have an increased sense of well-being and self-efficacy, resulting in an overall improvement in health and wellness.
Let me help you get in the best shape of your life!
